Saturday Night Lights

On Saturday September 23, girls varsity soccer and varsity football played their their first home games under the lights. The buildings and grounds department lit up both Greene and Burr fields for the event. Before the football game, both teams gathered at midfield for the national anthem and a brief ceremony to honor McCrae Williams '17.

As a 6-year-old in Long Island in 1969, Mike Massimino was spellbound when he saw space pioneers Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong walking on the moon across his black-and-white TV. It set a lifelong dream in motion. “I thought astronauts were the coolest, and that people leaving the planet was the most important thing to ever happen. I wanted to be one of them, but a little voice in the back of my head told me I’d never get the chance.”

Nobles Squash Around the World

ATHLETICS Jul 31, 2017

By the end of this summer, Nobles squash players will have travelled to four continents for their sport. Gracie Doyle ’17 recently played for team USA in New Zealand. Jake Koeppel ’21 and Jesse Brownell ’19 played in Germany at the beginning of July. Brownell will play again in Canada in early August. Her mother, Nobles coach Christina Brownell, and Patrick McElroy ’17 recently represented American squash in Paraquay.

Members of the Corporation Say Goodbye, Bob

At the annual Members of the Corporation dinner on June 15, 2017, Bob Henderson gave his final public remarks as Nobles’ sixth head of school. President of the Nobles Board of Trustees Beth Reilly ’87 thanked Henderson for his remarkable leadership and updated the audience of the school’s progress over the past year, including the appointment of Dr. Catherine J. Hall as Nobles’ seventh head of school. Reilly also introduced fellow graduate and trustee Mariel Novas ’06, who honored Henderson by reading a letter addressed to him.
