Varsity Boys Basketball

The Program

The boys basketball program is one of the most competitive on campus. While Varsity is the main draw, JV basketball has been extremely successful over the past few seasons supplying the varsity with quality players. The Thirds and Middle School teams are teaching the fundamentals needed to reach a higher level.

Last season, the team finished 17-9 and qualified for the New England Class A Tournament.

Head coach Adam Cluff: Coach Cluff is in his 4th year on the Nobles faculty and coaching staff.  A graduate of Williams College, Coach Cluff is a member of the English department at Nobles.  He also coaches with the Middlesex Magic, with whom he has worked for the past six years, as well as with Kevin O’Brien’s Rising Star Basketball School program. The Nobles basketball program is built on the concept of "Ubuntu." Our players buy into the Unbutu philosophy in committing to each other that" "I am because we are, and I cannot be all I can be unless you are all you can be." Our team strives to come together as a family that loves each other every season.

Assistant Coach Joe Day: Joe has been the assistant coach at Nobles since 2002. Prior to Nobles he was the head coach at J.E. Burke High School (1972-1982) and at Catholic Memorial HS (1982-2002). His success as a basketball coach has earned him enshrinement in the Massaschusetts State Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame (2005) and the Catholic Memorial Hall of Fame (2010).

Assistant Coach Edgar DeLeon: Coach DeLeon is in his 3rd year as a varsity assitant. A graduate of Nobles, Coach DeLeon brings his unparalleled passion for basketball and communication skills to help enhance our program's culture every day, both on and off the court. Coach DeLeon also serves as a class dean, assitant dean of students and is is the director of the Nobles Upward Bound Program.

Assistant Coach Al Rue: Coach Rue played Division One basketball at Northeastern and has extensive coaching experience, both with the Spartans AAU program as well as in the ISL.
