The Program
The Girls Ice Hockey program has established itself as a force within both the Independent School League (ISL) and the New England Prep School Girls Ice Hockey Association (NEPSGIHA). In the past eight years, the Bulldogs have won eight ISL titles with a four season undefeated streak within ISL play. In the very competitive NEPSGIHA Division I Tournament, Nobles has also seen a great deal of success. They won this prestigious title in 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2008. In addition to these championship years, the Bulldogs were semi-finalists in 2001 and 2003, quarter-finalists in 2006, and finalists in 2007.
In addition to the varsity team, Nobles supports a team at the junior varsity level. While there is no separate middle school team, the middle school players generally find good competition and placement at the JV level depending on their previous playing experience. Occasionally, a middle school player has the talent to contribute at the varsity level.
The Coach
During his nine years, the girls program has achieved a record of 213-18-9, has helped send over twenty-five players to play college hockey (at Boston College, Bowdoin, Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard, Middlebury, Princeton, Providence, Williams, Yale, and others), and has helped developed seven National Team players. Outside of Nobles, Resor has coached for USA Hockey, Assabet Valley, and the Cape Cod Whalers.
At Nobles, Resor is fortunate to have an excellent staff: Steve Cedorchuk has over thirty-five years of experience at the high school, college, national, and international levels and has coached at Nobles for five years. Katie Guay, who works in the Nobles Alumni and Development office, played at Brown University and for the U22 Women's National team and has coached at Nobles for three years. Sara Decosta-Hayes, a gold medal winning goalie for the 1998 Olympic team, returns for her fourth season to work with the goalies. The Schedule
In addition to the 12 opponents found within ISL competition, Nobles fills its schedule with quality competition from around New England. A highlight each year is hosting the Harrington Invitational Tournament each December. This is an eight team tournament that has been a part of the holiday season for over twenty years.
The Facilities
Nobles is fortunate to have an ice rink on campus for its hockey teams, the Bliss Omni and Flood Rink. Renovated in advance of the 2001/02 season, this facility offers varsity locker rooms, a pro shop, lobby, and visiting team rooms. In addition to the fast sheet of ice, the players also have access to the Fine Fitness Center within the Morrison Athletic Center.
