The Program

The boys ice hockey program has had a rich tradition within the ISL and New England. The team competes within the Keller Division of the Independent School League which is one of the most well known and respected within New England and the nation. Nobles is consistently one of the top teams in this strong division in which games are separated by only one or two goals throughout the season. The survivor of the competition within the Keller Division are well tested and ready to advance within the New England Tournament.

In arguably the toughest League competition in high school hockey, Nobles finished atop the ISL for two of the last five seasons and advanced to the semi-finals of the NEPSAC Division I tournament in three of the past four seasons.

The Coach

Brian Day enters his ninth year at Nobles. Aside from his coaching responsibilities, he also teaches two sections of economics and also serves as the Class II dean. His passion and energy for the game have consumed those within the program at Nobles, and his love for the game has extended to coaching outside of Nobles during the summer with Mass. Hockey's Satellite Training program and with USA Hockey's Summer Festivals.

The Schedule

The Keller Division of the ISL provides 16 contests for Nobles through competitive and exciting home-and-home match-ups. Other quality opponents from around New England are added to complete the 22 game regular season. Nobles is also involved in two tournaments over the winter holiday. The highlight is the Flood Marr Holiday Tournament in which Nobles shares the hosting responsibilities with Milton Academy. The 2009 tourney will mark the 45th year for this tournament that attracts scouts from across the country.

The Facilities

Nobles is fortunate to have an ice rink on campus for its hockey teams, the Bliss Omni and Flood Rink. Renovated in advance of the 2001/02 season, this facility offers varsity locker rooms, a pro shop, lobby, and visiting team rooms. In addition to the fast sheet of ice, the players also have access to the Fine Fitness Center within the Morrison Athletic Center. Whether as a team or individually, players are able to access programs led by the Nobles Strength and Conditioning coaches for both in and out of season workouts.
