2010 Outlook

The 2010 Nobles Bulldogs sets its sights on the rigors of the Independent School League. The team endeavors to regain its status in the upper echelon of the league after a 9 - 6 2009 campaign. This team will be as athletic as any in recent years.

The offense will be an experienced and skilled group. The offense will be led by attackman Sean Shakespeare. The All-ISL junior from Walpole returns for his fourth varsity season and certainly will be a focal point for opposing defenses. Junior Alex Owen also received ISL recognition for a standout 2009 season. Owen will be found in a variety of places offensively as he brings a variety of skills to the group. Junior Jack Palmer and sophomore Brad Rigoli are also skilled offensive threats who will be called upon to serve in a variety of roles. Senior captain Nick Raffone, senior Gordie Bailey, juniors Phil Hession, Chris Geary, and Clem Chanenchuk will provide much of the work offensively from the midfield. Eigth-grade attacker Mikey Herring will add depth to the group.

Defensively, the Bulldogs will be very athletic.  The overall inexperience of the group will be the biggest hurdle for the group early in the season. The close defense will be led by senior Ben Wiggins and junior Matt Resor. Wiggins and Resor return after excellent 2009 campaigns. Three newcomers will add depth. Juniors Thomas Park and Tommy Kelly and sophomore Andrew Inches will all see action. Senior captain Gus Young returns after missing the 2009 season due to injury. Young will patrol the middle of the field capably as a the LSM. He will be aided in reserve by rangy freshman Jackson Cabot. Sophomores Max Franklin and Andrew Doane will see minutes as short stick defensive midfielders.

The goal will be minded by junior Zach Ellison. Ellison assumes the starting role after a year as a backup last spring. Ellison is an excellent stopper as well as overall leader for the defense.
