2009 Outlook
The 2009 Boys Lacrosse Team endeavors to continue the success of the program. The Bulldogs have long been an ISL power and this spring's addition looks to be one of the league's stronger teams once again. The graduation of many integral seniors from the 2008 squad has afforded opportunities for many players.
Offensive production looms as the biggest question mark for the relatively young Bulldogs. Sophomore attackmen Sean Shakespeare and Alex Owen will combine with senior sharpshooter Tyler Parsons up front. Senior Will Kiplinger and Junior Jared Lackey will also augment the attack unit.
The midfield unit will be manned by many young faces. The most experienced middie offensively will be junior Nick Raffone who returns for his third varsity campaign. Junior Gordie Bailey, senior Richie McCormack, sophomores Jack Palmer and Geoff Genova and freshman Brad Rigoli will see much of the minutes offensively. Senior middies Kevin O'Block and Curt Nichols will be relied upon to tighten things up defensively. The LSM duties will fall on junior Ben Wiggins and sophomore Matt Resor.
Defensively, the group will be athletic though relatively inexperienced. Four-year starter and captain McCallum Foote will lead the way at close defense. Seniors Peter Owen and Rob Spalding and junior Bill Arnold will all see ample minutes with Foote.
The goal will be tended by senior captain Emmett Mercer. Mercer returns for his second season as the starter. Sophomore Zack Ellison will serve as the backup goalie.
