In a physical and fast paced game in what has quickly become a great rivalry, Nobles prevailed over Westminster 1-0 on Sarah Duncan’s second period goal. Nobles had the advantage in the first period, except for having to kill a 4 on 3 penalty situation, but could not put a puck by the Westminster goalie. In the second period, Westminster shook off their bus legs and gained the momentum, but could not grab the lead. Fortunately for Nobles, with 2:43 left in the period, Duncan was able to get her stick on the rebound of a Marissa Gedman point shot and slide the puck home for the game’s only goal. However, Westminster then went on a 5 on 3 power play, and only excellent penalty killing by Michelle Picard, Caitlin Fai, Denna Laing, MK Cruise, and Taylor Blake, as well as the goal post, kept the score 1-0 going into the third period. After a back and forth period, Westminster cranked up the pressure in the last three minutes, spending much of the time in the Nobles zone, and the game ended with Nobles protecting the puck against the boards with the Westminster goalie pulled. In goal for Nobles, Taylor Blake made 17 saves for her eleventh shutout as Nobles improved to 14-1-4 overall.
