AP European History teacher Hannah Puckett shared this photo of students Chloe Lelon, Cam Nelson, and Ally Guerrero studying a page from the Cloverdale Bible, printed in the 16th century. It was the first complete English translation of the Bible. Co-Director of the Putnam Library Emily Tragert brought to class four selections from Nobles' Tower Collection of rare books, and led a discussion about printing in 15th and 16th century Europe and the social and cultural significance of the invention of movable type.

Clubs and organizations met today for the first time this year. Students had a dazzling array of choices—chess, theater, marine conservation, debate, gender awareness and cancer research, to name a few. Here, SURJE (Students United for Racial Justice and Equity, formerly Multicultural Student Association/MSA) brainstorms issues to explore with the Nobles community this year.

After the pace of summer, the first week back at school can be rough. School Life Council co-presidents Uche Ndukwe and Emma Majernik made the transition a little sweeter by showering students with candy in assembly. Happy Friday!

The 2017-18 school year is underway! Academic classes begin tomorrow, but class retreats are happening on campus, at Camp Bournedale, in the Blue Hills and Boston. "These retreats are great opportunities to come together as a class and set a positive tone for the year," says Associate Dean of Students Meghan Hamilton.

A reminder that this Saturday, September 9 at 2:30 pm we'll be holding the 7th annual Michele Dufault '07 5K. Feel free to run, jog, or walk the cross country trail. Entry for the event is $15 and registration is down at the MAC starting around 1:00. This year all proceeds will go to a scholarship fund which Nobles has set up with Solaid International, a non-profit we work with in Kampot, Cambodia. The fund supports mostly very poor rural girls so that they can attend school.
