Spring Imani Concert
ARTS
Under the direction of Alexi Paraschos, the gospel group Imani performed its first full-length concert on April 13 in Lawrence Auditorium. The 25-member choir with four-member student band presented a set list that included “Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round” and “Carry Me Home.” Readings included “Equality” by Maya Angelou.
2012 Fringe Festival
STUDENT LIFE
On Wed., March 7, a group of talented students and faculty took to the Assembly stage for the annual Fringe Festival. An eclectic array of acts included musical performances, dance, acting, story telling and video. Humor was in the air as performing arts faculty members collaborated with students in a hilarious rendition of Copacabana by Barry Manilow. Jeff Wong ’12 shed light on his shrimp allergy by telling a comical story about the EpiPen. Hamzat Raheem ’13 shared his graphic designs in a video. Milan Chuttani accompanied by Andrew Fai, both ’14 on the violin, played a beautiful piano piece written by Chuttani. Dana Grey and Ashley Allinson, both ’15, presented an amusing act of “The Best Daddy” by Shel Silverstein. See a photo gallery of some of the performances below.
A Girl and Her Room
ARTS
The Foster Gallery's current exhibit, "A Girl and Her Room," features selections from an ongoing body of work by photographer and Nobles parent Rania Matar in which she collaborated with girls from both the United States and the Middle East to make photographs that depict the girls in their bedrooms. Hands On Learning
UPPER SCHOOL
The Nobles science program is an area of the curriculum designed for experiential learning. Students form thoughtful questions and hypotheses through an array of learning techniques in the classroom, lab and field. This year, various grade levels engaged in three different science projects, allowing students to find answers for themselves.
Honoring MLK

On Mon., Jan. 16, 2011, thousands of people nationwide honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy through community service. The Nobles community hosted an MLK Day of Service as more than 250 faculty members, students, and their family and friends volunteered at local organizations in the Greater Boston area.
Game of the Season: Nobles vs. Cotting
ATHLETICS
It's hard to predict the season's highlight before most of the games have been played, but the girls' varsity basketball team knows that nothing can top the annual Nobles vs. Cotting School friendly game, played on Fri., Jan. 6. This year marks the fifth match-up between Noble and Greenough and Cotting, a private special education day school in Lexington, Mass.
Frozen Fenway
ATHLETICS
The only thing better than the sound of "Sweet Caroline" at Fenway Park was the sound of Noble and Greenough School fans cheering on the boys' varsity hockey team as they took on—and beat—rival Milton Academy. The teams faced off for the first time this season at Frozen Fenway 2012 during a quadrupleheader of Independent School League's boys' and girls' games.

2011 Holiday Assembly
STUDENT LIFE
For more than 100 years, the Sixth Class has performed Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol during the annual holiday Assembly. A Hanukkah reading, The Power of Light, was added to the program more than decade ago. This year, the Assembly docket also included musical performances by faculty member Michael Turner; a cappella group, Imani; and a duet by Chris Collins-Pisano '12 and Belle Tuttle '13.
Castle Project Updates
STUDENT LIFE
The Castle Project is on target, with necessary pre-winter projects wrapped and construction poised to continue throughout the colder months, according to Steve Ginsberg, business manager. The project architects, Architerra, expect the renovated Castle, despite its expanded square footage, to use about as much energy as the structure on the original footprint and to be a contender for gold LEED certification.
Nobles Director of Development George Maley reports that fundraising for the project stands at $14 million of the $20 million goal. Castle Project completion is slated for late August 2012.

On Thursday, Dec. 8, students in Chris Pasterczyk's Advanced Projects in Physics class unveiled a Rube Goldberg-inspired project. The Nobles community—students, faculty, staff and parents—huddled together in CP's classroom to watch the "Doomsday" machine take out the fictitious Sunder City .
Time to Improvise

Several actors from Boston's Improv Asylum performed in long Assembly on Wed., Dec. 7. They asked for audience suggestions and participation during the hour-long sketch and improvisation comedy show. It was perfect timing for students and faculty members who were busy preparing for end-of-term exams.

Fall for Dance
ARTS
A crowd of supporters filled Lawrence Auditorium for the first dance concert of the year on Thurs., Nov. 17, 2011. Thirty students in the Afternoon Dance Program and academic dance classes, as well as independent student choreographers, presented a string of modern, hip-hop, jazz, Latin and Indian style dances.

Our beautiful 187-acre campus is located in Dedham, Massachusetts, abutting the Charles River. We have been providing a high quality camp program for boys and girls since 1948!
Chinese Acrobats Return to Nobles

The Chinese Acrobats left the Nobles community in awe during Long Assembly on Wed., Nov. 9. They contorted their bodies, juggled a variety of objects, tumbled through hoops and even used a performer as a human jump rope. The well-anticipated Assembly will be one to remember for a long time.
Halloween Fun 2011

On October 31, the Nobles community fully embraced the Halloween spirit. Morning Assembly was full of special surprises including music, skits and a Day of the Dead video. Class I united in jungle-themed costumes representing zebras, Tarzan, leopards and many others. The Parents’ Association also hosted a surprise lunch for Class I students.
2011 Friday Night Lights
ATHLETICS
On Friday, Oct. 14, Burr Field lit up with high-spirited fans for the first-ever Friday night football game against ISL rivalry Thayer Academy. Rain didn’t deter a vibrant crowd of supporters sporting blue and white from cheering on the Bulldogs. A tailgate party with music and food kicked off the event and also raised money for Nobles travel program.
2011 Multicultural Fair

Nobles students, faculty, staff and families took a trip around the world on Friday, Sept. 30, at the annual Multicultural Fair. More than a dozen countries including Colombia, France, Greece, Ecuador, India, Japan and Nigeria were represented through artifacts, activities, costumes, music, dance and food.

Nobles eagerly welcomed Boston Globe reporter Dante Ramos to the Assembly stage on Wed., Sept. 28. Everyone knew that Ramos, who reported for New Orleans newspaper The Times-Picayune during Hurricane Katrina, was on hand to lead a discussion about the community book, Zeitoun by Dave Eggers. The crowd erupted when Ramos brought two special guests to join him onstage for a Long Assembly Q&A.
