Beautiful Sounds from the Wind/String Concert

ARTS May 4, 2012

The spring Wind/String Concert featured something for everyone on Thursday, May 3. The Middle School wind ensemble performed a selection of Czech folk songs, while its Upper School counterpart performed The Phantom of the Opera medley, as well as a song from the musical Hairspray (this year’s chosen spring musical). Soloist Ashley Wang, Class I, played Bach’s “Concerto in C Minor,” and joined the Upper School string ensemble for “Waltz from the Serenade for Strings” by Tchaikovsky.

Strings and orchestra instructor Kate Kayaian arranged a fun number by Taylor Swift, performed by both the Middle and Upper School string ensembles. Krysten Keches, Class of 2006 and talented harpist, returned to the Lawrence Auditorium concert stage to perform with the Nobles orchestra. Their line-up included “Symphony No. 35 in D Major, ‘Haffner’” by Mozart and “Carmen Suite No. 1” by Bizet.
