Tracing Movement: Human Machine

ARTS Nov 13, 2013

In an exhibition in the Foster Gallery, an unexpected grouping of students and faculty from the visual arts, performing arts and science departments explored questions that transcend a single discipline: What is movement?  How do we document it? What is choreography?  What could choreography be? What is programming?  Is programming a form of choreography? What is chaotic movement?  What potential does chaotic movement have?  What is rhythmic movement?  What rules govern rhythm? The resulting work evokes the spirit of Jackson Pollock’s action paintings and other work from the abstract expressionist movement. Curious? Watch the collective “performance” below.
