In conjunction with the new MLK Memorial, CNN recently aired an online video featuring Herman Hemingway, the only surviving member from Dr. King's fraternity, alpha phi alpha. Hemingway, grandfather of Nobles graduate Amarachi Iwuh '10, was a sophmore at Brandeis University (the school's first black student) when he pledged the fraternity with other area school students.

On Friday, Oct. 14, Burr Field lit up with high-spirited fans for the first-ever Friday night football game against ISL rivalry Thayer Academy. Rain didn’t deter a vibrant crowd of supporters—sporting blue and white—from cheering on the Bulldogs. A tailgate party with music and food kicked off the event and also raised money for the Nobles travel program.

They are challenged every day in class, through the rigor of the academic curriculum, and motivated by faculty members who spark their interest in a variety of subjects. The school’s youngest students, seventh graders (known as Class VI or “Sixies”) spend the first semester learning—among other things—about how they learn.

More than 435 grandparents gathered on campus on Friday, Sept. 30, to experience for themselves a typical Nobles day, complete with classes, art exhibits, performances and athletic games. No “day in the life” at Nobles would be complete without morning Assembly, so grandparents settled into the seats of Lawrence Auditorium at the start.
