On January 5, Nobles' choral groups took the Lawrence stage for their long anticipated winter concert. From the chamber music singers' Gregorian chant  to the Greensleeves' Spice Girls/Black Eyed Peas mashup, to the middle school's Bobby Darin cover, there was a song for everyone.

Nobles is hosting home field hockey, football, soccer and volleyball games while the cross country teams will be at the New England Championship meets. All varsity teams will be wearing new throwback uniforms to mark Nobles' 150th anniversary.

On November 5, 2016, over 1,100 graduates, parents and friends of Nobles gathered in the Bliss Omni Flood Rink for Nobles Night to celebrate the sesquicentennial history of the school and the 17 year headship of Robert P. Henderson Jr. 76. President of the Board of Trustees Beth Reilly '87 gave the keynote address and introduced a video tribute to Henderson.

Student Athletes 4 Change Challenge

ATHLETICS Oct 26, 2016

On November 19 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Nobles will host the Student Athletes 4 Change Challenge to raise funds for at-risk student athletes in grades 3–8.

Nobles basketball players, in co-ed teams of five, will compete against Park School, Rivers and Thayer in an online math challenge.

David McCullough Shares Stories

“Do what you really want to do,” author David McCullough told students on October 19 at long assembly. “A good life is a life with a mission.” Nobles welcomed McCullough, who wrote this year’s community book, The Wright Brothers, and is the recipient of two Pulitzer Prizes, two National Book Awards and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.  “What you do is more important than the money [you make]. What’s important is that you have purpose,” he said.

This year's Multicultural Fair featured culture and cuisine from nations around the globe, including Bulgaria, Israel, Ethiopia, India, Peru and China, among many others. 

The celebration included an assortment of music, dance, food and fashion alongside an emphasis on geography, language and history.

This fall, Nobles breaks ground on two building projects on campus—a major renovation of the Baker Science Building and the construction of an Academic Inquiry Center to include a new Putnam Library. 

Head of School Bob Henderson explains that the project will reflect the changing function of libraries and science centers. It will also create a more unified, functional and beautiful campus.

Achieve Program Recognized

UPPER SCHOOL Oct 7, 2016

The National Partnership for Educational Access (NPEA) recently recognized the work of Achieve, a Nobles-based program that provides academic and social enrichment through summer and academic year programming to motivated students in grades 6-12 from Boston Public Schools (BPS).

“Achieve scholars are motivated, resilient, and thoughtful,” Executive Director Director Nora Dowley-Liebowitz told NPEA.  Currently, 98 percent are students of color, 89 percent will be first-generation college students, and 70 percent speak a second language at home, she says.
