Welcome back! I hope that you had a restful summer and were able to spend quality time with your family and friends. As I said in my Retreat letter from earlier this summer, I am very excited to be working with Class III this year and am eager to continue my work with the students and with you. I feel fortunate that I know many of you well, and I look forward to continuing this journey together.
I am grateful that Kris Ganong and Valerie Thayer will join me as the Class III Parent Representatives and that Ali Grogan, Savannah Horton, Caleb Kirshner, and Cyrus Veyssi will join me as the Class III SLC Representatives. Please feel free to contact me, Kris, and/or Valerie if you have any questions and/or concerns as the year progresses - I strongly believe in maintaining open lines of communication, and I welcome your phone calls, e-mails, and visits!
Please join me in welcoming six new Class III students and their families to Nobles: Chris Calnan, Alexa Demirjian, Adam Gilmour, Connor Maher, Liam McClintock, and Hannah Nash. I know that the returning students will get to know these students better in the next few weeks, and I hope that you get to know them and their families over the course of the fall.
There are a few dates that I would like to highlight and get on your calendars now:
* Tuesday, September 21: Back-to-School Night (6 p.m.)
* Monday, October 25: Parent Education Kickoff: Dr. Robin D’Antona will speak on the topic of bullying (6:30 p.m. Lawrence Auditorium)
* Thursday, November 4: Class III Parent Forum: Understanding the Cognitive Leap
* Tuesday, November 16 & Wednesday, November 17: Advisor-Parent/Guardian Meetings (3-5:30 p.m.)
The pace of the fall can be somewhat frenetic at times, and students may feel overwhelmed initially by the increased workload, their new schedules, and their extracurricular commitments. I encourage you to reach out to me and to others in our community, including your child’s advisor, so that we can all work together during this time of transition and make it as smooth as possible. I wish you the best of luck in the first few weeks back to Nobles, and I look forward to hearing from you and to seeing you on campus!
