This is a two-year commitment, serving the first year as co-Vice Chair and the second year as co-chair. You will serve on the PA Executive Board both years. As co-vice chair, responsibilities include: overseeing the class representatives and attending monthly PA meetings and monthly PA Executive Board meetings. In your second year as co-chairs, responsibilities include: developing agendas for both the PA and PA Executive Board meetings; chairing monthly PA meetings; submitting communications for the monthly newsletters and the weekly parent emails; working with class reps and PA board member event coordinators to plan and execute Nobles PA events; liaising with the head of school and/or other Nobles faculty; attending Nobles Trustees meetings; and participating on the Nominating Committee to select next year’s PA board members.
This is a two-year commitment. Responsibilities include: serving on the PA Executive Board; attending monthly PA meetings and monthly PA Executive Board meetings; recording and publishing written records of meetings; and collecting weekly notices from various PA board positions to be submitted to the school for the middle school and upper school weekly emails.
This is a two-year commitment. Responsibilities include: serving on the PA Executive Board; attending monthly PA meetings and PA Executive Board meetings; managing the annual PA budget and making sure committee chairs and Class Reps stay on budget; developing the PA annual budget; providing monthly financial reports; working with event chairs to obtain/distribute cash boxes; making deposits after each event; and coordinating reimbursements. Every two years the PA holds a Yard Sale during which the Treasurer works closely with the Yard Sale Co-Chairs over the two days of the sale to manage cash sales and charges to student accounts.
This is a two-year commitment. Responsibilities include: serving on the PA Executive Board; chairing the Nominating Committee which selects the following year’s board members; working with all PA board members and event organizers to recruit volunteers; assisting with SignUp Genius forms; and maintaining and updating the volunteer section on the Nobles website.
Responsibilities include: working with the admission office to organize and recruit Nobles parents to meet with prospective parents while their children are being interviewed; assisting with open houses; calling accepted families to answer questions about the school; recruiting volunteers for all admission events; staffing prospective family receptions in the fall and winter; and providing volunteers for visiting day accepted-family coffees in the spring.
Arts Ambassador Co-Chairs
Responsibilities include: helping to promote and enrich all aspects of the arts at Nobles, including music, dance, theatre, voice, and visual arts; and organizing two pre-concert parent receptions and a parent art enrichment event.
Athletics Cookouts Co-Chairs
Responsibilities include: organizing one or two home game cookouts in the fall (Friday/Saturday Night Lights in the fall) and possibly one in the spring, and sourcing food and volunteers for the cookouts. You will work with the athletic department staff on this/these event(s).
Athletic Liaison Co-Chairs
Responsibilities include: facilitating the on-campus banquet reservation and planning process for the captains’ parents; requesting or reserving other on-campus rooms during a given season (e.g. for meetings); and assisting captains’ parents with catering suggestions, rentals, RSVPs, proper chitting of families post-banquet, etc. Each sports season, the liaisons will receive a sport-specific list of captains’ parents. The liaisons are responsible for contacting the captains’ parents to offer assistance.
Each grade is represented by two parent reps, with the exception of Class I which has three parent reps. Responsibilities include: working with class deans and parent volunteers throughout the school year coordinating and organizing all class events including parent coffees, parent socials and surprise lunches; submitting communications to the monthly newsletters and the weekly parent emails; and managing the class budget.
Community Service Co-Chairs
Responsibilities include: promoting parent involvement in community service by organizing PA group community service projects; arranging two or three PA community service outings at charities around Boston; publicizing these events at PA meetings and in the weekly newsletters; and coordinating the volunteers.
EXCEL Liaison Co-Chairs (formerly Achieve Liaisons)
Responsibilities include: acting as the liaison between the EXCEL Department and the parent community; promoting awareness of the many Nobles EXCEL opportunities, including Achieve, Global Immersion and Study Away programs; facilitating communication between the EXCEL department and the parent community through announcements at PA meetings and the weekly emails; and organizing and managing parent volunteers for EXCEL programs/events.
Faculty and Staff Appreciation Lunch Co-Chairs
There are two faculty and staff lunch events, one held in the fall and one in the spring, each with their own co-chairs. Responsibilities include: working with FLIK to create a special lunch for faculty and staff, and recruiting volunteers to serve and decorate for the event.
Grand/Guest Day Co-Chairs
This is a two-year commitment. Responsibilities include: organizing Grand/Guest Day with the Development Office, and working with Development to coordinate lunch, parent volunteers and other logistics. During your first year in this role you will shadow the current G/G Day Co-Chairs, and assume co-chair responsibilities the following year.
Green Team Liaison
Responsibilities include: working with all members of the Nobles community to ensure environmental sustainability; communicating ongoing efforts; promoting new environmental sustainability efforts, including anti-idling, recycling, e-waste disposal, and the elimination of plastic bottles at Nobles and at PA events.
Host Program Co-Chairs
This is a two-year commitment. Responsibilities include: working with the Admission Office to recruit Nobles families to serve as hosts for newly-admitted families; and organizing admitted student family events in the spring. During your first year in this role you will shadow the current Host Program Co-Chairs, and assume co-chair responsibilities the following year.
Parent Book Group Co-Chairs
Responsibilities include: creating 2-3 opportunities during the school year for parents to meet in a casual environment; choosing books to discuss; and publicizing the events in the monthly PA meetings and the weekly newsletters.
Parent Outing Co-Chairs
Responsibilities include: organizing parent gatherings in a casual setting, (such as morning walks, fitness classes, museum trips, craft events, or educational talks); and publicizing these events in the monthly PA meetings and in the weekly newsletters.
Parent Association Fall or Spring Social Co-Chairs
There are two all-school socials, fall and spring; each event has its own co-chairs. Responsibilities include: organizing the September PA Social for all Nobles parents; or organizing the Spring All-School Social. Both events are held on campus.
Parents Independent Schools Network (PIN) Co-Chairs
Responsibilities include: attending PIN meetings and lectures; reporting on PIN topics to the PA through the monthly PA meetings and the weekly newsletters; and promoting upcoming PIN lectures as well as PIN community service opportunities.
Yard Sale Co-Chairs
This event will take place In October 2019. (The Yard Sale occurs alternate years, in the fall of odd-numbered years.) Responsibilities include: organizing and managing the fall Nobles Yard Sale; overseeing the recruitment of volunteers, advertising, and the collection of items to be sold, and running the two-day sale. Proceeds from this event will support a Nobles supported charity.
