A crowd of supporters filled Lawrence Auditorium for the first dance concert of the year on Thurs., Nov. 17, 2011. Thirty students in the Afternoon Dance Program and academic dance classes, as well as independent student choreographers, presented a string of modern, hip-hop, jazz, Latin and Indian style dances.

Audience members were in for a few surprises including the first-ever performance by students in the Afternoon Middle School Dance Program and an Upper School modern dance choreographed to music by Edie Carey ’92, also daughter of English teacher Tim Carey. Faculty members David Medina ’05 and Greg Croak ’06 made an appearance in the Latin dance, choreographed by Medina and teaching fellow Irina Troconis.

Director of Dance Jillian Grunnah treated audience members to a Scarlet Letter-inspired dance with her professional dance company Spunk and COmpany Dance.
