When girls varsity hockey teammates Lily Bromley ’27, Ava Decourcey ’27, and Catherine McCool ’28 aren’t donning their Nobles jerseys in the Bliss Omni Rink, they’re still teammates—just in a different arena, where their jerseys read “U.S.A.”
In January, Bromley, Decourcey, and McCool traveled to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, with the 2026 U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team to compete in the IIHF Women’s World Championship. Team USA earned the first perfect gold in tournament history, finishing 6-0-0-0 and beating Canada 2-0 in the gold medal game.
Girls varsity hockey coach and former faculty member Tom Resor reflects on the impact all three girls have made both on and off the ice. “I could not be prouder of what Ava, Catherine, and Lily have accomplished as individual players and as part of the gold medal-winning U.S. U18 World Championship team,” says Resor. “The three of them earned an invitation to the U.S. U18 team tryouts last summer and made the team for a three-game exhibition series versus Canada. Last October, they attended a team training camp and were chosen for the World Championships in Nova Scotia. They have done amazingly well balancing their commitments to Nobles and to USA Hockey, have represented Nobles with integrity and respect, and have served as exemplary ambassadors for the school.”
