In assembly today, Angie Feng ’24, Chris Xue ’24 and Katie Cheung ’23, leaders from the East Asian arm of A2A (Nobles’ AAPI affinity group) showed a video about the history, meaning and customs associated with celebrating Lunar New Year across Asia and around the world. They also shared some of their own families’ favorite traditions, like making and eating dumplings that symbolize prosperity, cleaning the house to sweep away bad luck, getting a haircut to usher in a good new year, and giving out red envelopes of money associated with good fortune, happiness and energy.

Chinese teachers Ray Sun and Dao Liu made dumplings throughout the day with their language classes. Wishing a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year to all who celebrate.
