Sara Toga joined the Nobles community in fall 2022. After a chance substitute teaching position in an inclusion classroom in 2007, she found her passion for teaching neurodiverse students at the middle and secondary school levels. Sara has experience working in a diverse range of educational settings, from traditional public schools, to turnaround schools, to international and boarding schools. In 2011, Sara spent a year abroad teaching on Majuro atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and went on to teach and work in residential life for seven years at a boarding school on the Big Island of Hawai’i. These experiences taught her the importance and power of community, especially when you’re new to a place and seeking a sense of belonging. This informs her daily work, as she approaches each student interaction as a chance to remind them that they are seen, they matter, and they belong. In the fall semester, Sara enjoys teaching the Academic Theory and Practice course exploring executive functioning and cognitive growth of the adolescent mind. Outside of the learning center, Sara is a member of the Achieve Program team, serving as their summer session learning support coordinator and SSAT Prep course tutor. She is also the faculty advisor of Synapse, the neurodivergent affinity group at Nobles. Sara is a proud alumna of Emerson College (B.A. in Visual and Media Arts) and Simmons University (Master of Science in Education).
