Community Events
While some events vary from year to year, some Nobles community highlights of our DEI-related programming have included:
Year-round:
- Student affinity group meetings, presentations, discussions, evening events, and dinners
- Parent/guardian and employee Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity (SEED) Project
- Employees of Color group gatherings
- Continuous evaluation/selection of diverse experiences across the curriculum
- Proactive diversity hiring and retention efforts for faculty and staff
- Professional development for faculty and staff to deepen understanding around DEI
- Expert guest speakers and classroom visitors
August:
- Bridges: Daylong orientation for new students of color to provide them with peer mentors and introduce them to campus resources
September - Latinx Heritage Month Assembly presentations by Poder, Latinx affinity group
- Affinity groups kickoff and Clubs/Organizations Fair
October
- ISL Changemakers Conference: Independent School League athletics through the lens of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
- Nobles Community Shabbat: Connects Jewish-identifying students and families while celebrating Shabbat
- Diwali Assembly presentation by South Asian affinity group (SAAG)
- Synapse (neurodiversity alliance) and Q2Q ( LGBTQ+ affinity group) movie night
- Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE) 2025 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging Conference for faculty/staff
November
- Nwanagu Family Dinner: Nobles’ largest community event of the year for people of color; includes current students, faculty/staff, graduates, and families of color
- Q2Q Trivia Night
January
- SYNAPSE Assembly presentation and one for faculty and staff
February
- Black History Month student presentations in Assembly by Black Student Union (BSU)
- Bad Bunny halftime show discussion hosted by Poder
- Venezuela current events discussion hosted by Poder
- A2A (Asian American affinity group) Lunar New Year Assembly presentation and celebrations in classes and affinity groups, clubs
- Assembly presentation about Ramadan by Salaam (Muslim affinity group)
- Iftar Dinner: Event hosted by Salaam for the whole community to promote unity, spirituality, and camaraderie among our Muslim families and coming together.
- Mosaic (multiracial affinity group) dinner
March
- All-affinity group dinner and conversation hosted by A2A
- SYNAPSE Disability Justice Presentation and library programming
- Who We Are: Weeklong interdisciplinary project for grade 7 that explores intersectional issues of education, healthcare, environmental justice, food, and housing
April
- Asian American Footsteps Conference for Asian, Asian American, and mixed-heritage Asian students attending independent secondary schools in New England
- BSU/Poder/Mosaic joint evening event with dinner, team-building, and games
May
- Asian Heritage Month presentations
- Asian Cultures Night: An event organized by Nobles’ Asian/Asian American families to celebrate Asian history and culture through performances, activities, and food from many traditions.
- Art Street activities led by various affinity groups
- Freeman Legacy Dinner: Formal dinner celebrating Class I students of color and their families, joined by Class II students of color and faculty/staff
- Sister 2 Sister (S2S) Tea Party: Event to honor graduating female students of color
- Students of Color Cookout: Casual celebration of community, culture, and achievement for students of color and a sendoff for those in Class I
