On May 16, on the heels of torrential downpours and tornado warnings, the sun cooperated as Class V students put their scientific engineering skills to the test for Nobles' 19th annual solar car race day.
Pairs of students developed strategies for harnessing solar energy to power miniature cars made of a variety of repurposed materials. They competed not only for speed, but also innovation, craftsmanship, technical merit and other categories.
