At the age of five, Jillian Kinard began choreographing dances to the beats of her yellow boombox outside of Chicago. She received her MFA in Choreography and Performance from Smith College and studied dance at Bowdoin College, where she received the Bowdoin Dance Group Award for her choreographic contributions to the program. Outside of Nobles she founded the contemporary dance group, SPUNKandCOmpany Dance, based in Cambridge, Mass. She has taught at Bates Dance Festival Youth Arts Program, Mount Holyoke and Smith College, and as a guest artist at Bowdoin College. She enjoys dancing the most in her kitchen with her toddlers.
