Four members of the Class of 2012 running for president of the School Life Council addressed fellow students during Assembly on Wednesday, May 18. Andrew Doane, Jake Oh, Ted Steinberg and Jeff Wong delivered opening statements, answered a set of questions about themselves and their leadership styles, and closed with appeals for support. Andrew called for school spirit in 2011-2012. “Go big, or go home,” he said. Jake used soccer as a metaphor, saying he would bring consistent effort to the job, but would need his peers to “give me the assist” to his goal. Ted said he would be a public president, visible at Assemblies, games and events. “What works best is when everyone is here,” he said. Jeff exhorted the student body to “make next year the best one ever.” Current SLC president Tom Kelly ’11 and provost Bill Bussey counted the votes immediately after Assembly and by 10:21 a.m. the results were in: For President, Ted Steinberg and for Vice President, Andrew Doane. “Congratulations to Andrew, Jeff, Ted, and Jake for a very impressive job today in Assembly. Thanks to all four of you for your continued commitment to the tone and culture of this school,” Mr. Bussey wrote in a communitywide email announcement of the election.
